    Convert Pattern Terms

    Here you can quickly switch between UK and US crochet terms. This will make following the pattern easier as all terms will be converted to your preferred version.

    Terms & Abbreviations

    Chain: ch(s): Yarn over, pull through.

    Slip stitch (sl-st): sl-st: Insert hook, yarn over, pull through both stitch and loop on hook.

    Double crochet: dc(s): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have two loops on the hook.  Yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.

    * – repeat instructions between asterisks.

    () â€“ Parentheses, indicates a stitch performed as one.

    Free Pattern: Puff Flower

    Foundation (In Lemon): Ch 4, insert hook into the fourth chain from the hook and pull through the yarn to create a circle.

    Round 1: Ch 1, 12 dc into the circle, ss into the first chain and tie off.

    Attach your chosen petal colour

    Crochet Puff Flower Pattern

    Round 2: (NOTE: Each petal will be worked over 2 chains)

    **Ch 3, *yarn over and insert hook into the same space, yarn over, pull through and pull up to the same height of the stitch* twice (5 loops on hook) yarn over and insert hook into the next space, *yarn over, pull thorough and pull up to the same height of the stitch* twice. (10 loops on hook) Yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook. Ch2, ss into the next space.**

    Repeat pattern from ** to ** until you have 6 petals. ss into chain of the first petal and tie off.

    You can sew your flowers together using a darning needle and yarn.

    2. Please help me understand how you get 10 stitches??I followed you, but it comes up with 11?first petal>
      Chain 3(1)yo,(2) ins, yo(3),yo(4), ins, yo(5).
      2nd st>Yo(1),ins into next st,yo(2),yo(3),yo(4),
      Yo(5),ins, yo (6)?

        Thank you for picking this up; you are right, you should have 11 loops on the hook before you yarn over and pull through them all. Sorry for any confusion and I will have this amended

          1. Hi Victoria, this is a really difficult question to answer a it would depend on your personal tension, I would suggest that you do a swatch then work it out from there.

      1. I used Stylecraft Special DK in Lemon, Wisteria, Clematis, Fondant and Candy floss. The amount would depend on your own personal tension and how big you wanted it to be 🙂
