In this blog post you’ll find everything you need to learn how to crochet this beautiful Houndstooth Cowl. Is there anything more classic than the Houndstooth pattern? I’m absolutely in love with this timeless, textured fabric, so what could be better than recreating it in crochet? This quick and simple Houndstooth Crochet Cowl uses only basic stitches to build up the pattern and can easily be adapted to create a longer cowl or scarf. Or you could use the pattern repeat in your own projects and create Houndstooth garments, homewear and more.
Whether you choose the quintessential black and white colour scheme, or experiment with colours, this is one classy crochet cowl that you’re going to want in your wardrobe.

Is there a way to join the two sides? Whip stitch?
If you watch the tutorial it will show you how to do this at 8:04 🙂
What are the finished measurements?
You can obviously make this in any length and width you like. For my project, I chained 30 (plus 1) and did 72 rows 🙂
How much yarn is needed for this pattern?
This would depend on the type of yarn you use, your hook size and your personal tension 🙂
How much yarn does it require if using the suggested Stylecraft Special DK? One black and one white?
Hi 1 ball of each colour is required, the blog post has now been updated with this information – thank you for bringing this missing information to our attention 🙂
Hi, just for your information and not a criticism but in your video having completed the first row in black then you turn and start the White row you say you do a double crochet, but actually you do a slip stitch.
Hi Paddy, thank you for picking this up, I will add an extra errata underneath the video 🙂
