Concept: Mindful Mood Blanket
Crochet a granny square a day to reflect your mood that day, this project is ideally worked over 365 days, so you have a year’s worth of granny squares to reflect your daily moods. However, you can do this for as many days as you like. You can also start this project at any point throughout the year, although some people like to start this on the 1st of January, so they have a blanket to reflect that particular year.

What happens if I miss a day?
Don’t worry if you miss a day, I always recommend you making a note of your daily moods this way if you miss a day you know which colour to use when you catch up. You can either crochet a granny sqaure a day or make a week’s worth of granny squares at once. I have a mood chart in the PDF pattern alternatively you can create your own or make a note of your daily moods in a notebook.
How many moods should I choose?
You can choose as many or as few moods as you like. I chose 18 different moods for my blanket but it’s entirely up to you. The more moods you choose the more colours you will need.
What size should my granny squares be?
You can make your granny squares as big as you like however I would recommend they are a minimum of 4 rounds.
How do I join my granny squares?
I have added a cream border to my granny squares using the join-as-you-go method. However, you can join using an alternative method. I’ve left some inspiration further down the post. I’d also recommend sewing in your ends each day/week so you’re not left with lots of ends at the end of your project. I have a great no ends granny sqaure method for you to try!
What is a mood blanket?
A mood blanket reflects your daily mood through the use of crochet and colour. All you have to do is write a list of moods you often feel and assign a colour yarn to that mood.
How much yarn do I need?
This would depend on how many moods you choose. I chose 18 moods and started off with 1 X 100g balls of each colour. In regards to how much yarn you will need I would recommend keeping an eye on your personal use and placing an order as and when you see your colours running low.
Be mindful of which brand you are using, I would recommend using a brand that you can purchase in several places to avoid the disappointment of running out.
All you have to do is write a list of moods you often feel and assign a colour yarn to that mood. I would recommend you stocking up on the yarn colours of your choice before starting to avoid running out of a specific colour.
Can I use any weight yarn?
I would recommend using a DK however an aran (worsted) or chunky (bulky) weight yarn. The thicker the yarn the larger your blanket will be so you might want to adjust the amount of days/granny squares you crochet.
What colours should I choose?

This would really depend on how big you wish the blanket to be. It would also depend on the yarn you are using, your hook size and your personal tension 🙂
