Make yourself a beautiful cape with this free crochet pattern by guest designer Laura of @lauraalgarra on Instagram. This gorgeous cape can be worn all year round so get creative with your yarn choices whether you choose a chunky yarn for the cooler seasons or make this with a beautiful cotton yarn for spring/summer. Just bear in mind that if you choose a thinner yarn you’ll need to add a more stitches to your foundation chain and pattern repeat. - Yarn: 4 Skeins of We Are Knitters The Petite Wool (100gr/140m) Worsted/Aran weight

- Final Measurements: 45 cm tall x 53 cm wide
You can adapt your cape to make it bigger or smaller by working in multiples of 6. Extend or decrease your foundation chain to reach your desired size and your cape will grow with the same proportions as my example.
The length of the cape can also be easily adapted. You can make it longer or shorter, depending on your preference. Simply fasten off once you’ve reached your desired length.

Let’s start with our foundation chain: Ch 78, slip stitch in first chain, ch 2 (counts as first treble crochet)
Round 1: 1 tr in all chains (78) sl st in second chain from beginning of the round, ch 2.
Round 2: 1 tr in same place as your chain * 1 tr in next 5 stitches, 2 tr in next stitch* Repeat * to * to the end of the round (91) sl st, ch 2.
Round 3: 1 BPtr in each stitch (91) sl st, ch 2.
Round 4: Repeat Round 3
Round 5: 1 tr in each stitch (91) sl st, ch 2.
Round 6: 1 tr in each stitch (91) sl st, ch 2.
Round 7: 1 tr in same place as your chain *1 tr in next 6 stitches, 2 tr in next stitch* Repeat * to * to the end of the round (104), sl st, ch 2.

If you want your cape to be more snuggly you can join your yarn where the foundation chain starts and the ch 2.

Continue to Repeat round 1 and 2 until you are happy with your cape neckline and when you are simply fasten off and weave in your ends.
