Crochet market bag

sundown market bag

I’m so happy to bring you the SUNDOWN MARKET BAG! This is my first market bag design and I LOVE it! I’m one of those people who carries around ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ so the fact that this bag can stretch to a substantial size as well as roll up small when it’s not being used is great! It’s super eco too, as a result of using this bag you’ll be cutting down on buying plastic carrier bags.

inspiration

I actually crocheted a lot of this bag when we were off out on a day trip to ‘Sundown Adventure Land’ and therefore I chose to call it the Sundown Market Bag. It’s a nice little reminder of our day out!

The missing section in your written pattern above where you crochet twice along the sides cinching in the β€œbag” section.

        2. It is the part after row 58, it jumps straight to the handles. The written pattern is missing the pattern for the stitches around the side of the bag that is shown in the video. πŸ™‚

      1. BellaCocoTeam

Hi Jessica I’m not sure what your query is as their are no sides to the bag? Can you let me know exactly what it is you think is missing as we have checked the pattern and it all seems to be correct πŸ™‚

    1. Lauren Lesley

I am struggling with doing the sides. Do I knot one side off to start the other? How do I go from one side to the other side?

      1. BellaCocoTeam

Hi Lauren When you are working the edges you should tie off your yarn once you have completed the first side and then attach it ready to begin the other side. I like to tie my yarn on and then secure it by pulling it through and making a slip stitch

    2. Cammie Rodriguez

What is the approximate, if not definite measurements, of one side of the bag in inches? I feel that mind is a bit short so far since I used a hook that’s a size smaller than the yarn recommended.

    3. This has been on my list a long time of crochet adventures and I did it! I made it with the new rainbow yarn doughnuts that they sell and looks fun. Mine is just smaller because I apparently crochet in miniature. Maybe it’s hand size or tension lol. It was super approachable when I did it even though at first seemed really intimidating. Thanks!!!

    4. Amazing pattern and I love my bag but the handles have stretched so much when I used it! I am going to remake the handles and make them a lot shorter to accommodate this stretch.

      1. BellaCocoTeam

I’m glad that you like the pattern and sorry to hear that your handles have stretched πŸ™‚

    5. Hi there.
Thank you so much for this “recipe”. I am pretty new to crocheting, but your guide along with your video, makes this understandable for a beginner, such as myself. My biggest concern is, what I do when I need to change yarn. I know how I normally would do it, but I am worried that this might not work, due to the loose style of this net. How did you do it?

      Thank you in advance.
      Camilla, Denmark

      1. BellaCocoTeam

HI Camilla You’re very welcome! You can still change your yarn in the way you would normally, by pulling through the new yarn as you make the final part of a stitch. You will just need to make sure that you sew in the ends nice and securely.
