This post will teach you how to crochet a strawberry key chain with my free step-by-step pattern. This cute crochet keychain is the perfect accessory for your keys plus it makes a great quick and easy gift. Plus, this project only uses a small amount of yarn so it’s a great stash buster! Materials & Tools
- Yarn A: (2.4g /5.5yds) of King cole Cottonsoft DK (#3), 100% Cotton, 100g (3.5oz), 210m (229yds), in shade Coral (1574)
- Yarn B: (3.6g/7.2yds) of Stylecraft Classique Cotton DK (#3), 100% Cotton, 50g (1.7oz), 92m (100yds), in shade Soft Lime (3663), this yarn has now been discontinued, you can substitute with any cotton DK yarn in green.
- Yarn C: (0.4g/1yds) of King cole Cottonsoft DK (#3), 100% Cotton, 100g (3.5oz), 210m (229yds), in shade Buttercup (1600)
- Yarn D: (0.8g/2.2yds) of Paintbox Cotton DK (#3), 100% Cotton, 50g(1.7oz), 125m(137yds), in shade Light Champagne (403)
- Hook Size: 3mm and 4mm
- Scissors
- Darning needle
- Keychain attachment, there are a few styles of these.

- Written in UK terms but switchable to US terms below.
- You will be making 6 seperate pieces for this project and then sewing them together.
Gauge & Size
- Completed size: Length (excluding keyring attachment): 13cm (5inch)
- Strawberry measures (H x W): 3cm X 4cm (1.2inch X 1.6inch)
- Strawberry leaves measure (H x W): 3cm X 3cm (1.2inch X 1.2inch)
- Leaves (L x W): 2.5cm X 1.5cm (0.10inch X 0.6inch)
- Flower: 4cm (1.6inch)

Convert Pattern Terms
Here you can quickly switch between UK and US crochet terms. This will make following the pattern easier as all terms will be converted to your preferred version.
Terms & Abbreviations
- Chain (ch): Yarn over, pull through.
- Double crochet (dc): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.
- Half Treble Crochet(s): htr(s): Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through remaining three loops.
- Treble Crochet(s): tr(s): Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.
- Magic ring/circle (MR)
- Slip stitch (sl-st): Insert hook, yarn over, pull through both stitch and loop on hook.

FREE Pattern: Strawberry Keychain
You are viewing this pattern in UK terms.
Strawberry (make 2)
With yarn A and 4mm hook, make a magic ring
Round 1: Work 7 dc into magic ring. Join with ss to top of first st. Pull ring closed. <7sts>
Round 2: Ch 1 (does not count as st here or throughout), work 2 dc in each st around. Join with ss in first st. <14 sts>

Connecting
With yarn B and 3mm hook, join with ss to keychain attachment. Make a chain measuring 3cm (1.9inch), fasten off leaving a long tail end for sewing.
Repeat this process making the next chain measure 8cm (3.2inch) and the final chain measuring 5cm (1.10inch).
Using the tail ends, sew the strawberry appliqués to the chains measuring 3cm (1.9inch) and 8cm (3.2inch).
Sew the flower appliqué to the remaining chain.
Finally, sew the leaves to the top of the keychain covering the top of the chains.
Sew in all remaining ends
