Single Crochet

Pin it now, make later!

The single crochet stitch known as double crochet in the UK is possibly one of the most popular crochet stitches as it is often one of the first stitches you will learn when starting to crochet. Single crochet is a neat, dense stitch that creates a simple but beautiful texture, looking identical on both sides which is great if you want to make a blanket or scarf that will be seen on both sides. For those of you who love amigurumi you’ll also use this stitch a lot! So in general single crochet is a great stitch for beginners to master.

    MATERIALS & TOOLS

Single crochet is a versatile crochet stitch and looks great in all types of yarns. However, if you are a beginner I recommend starting with a DK or Aran weight yarn along with the corresponding crochet hook, you will find this information on the band of your selected yarn.

    I have used:

Yarn: I used Paintbox Cotton DK in colours pistachio green, vanilla cream and blush pink.

    Hook: I have used a 4mm
