    Inspiration

When we moved into the studios at the start of 2022 we had the mammoth task of sorting out all of my crochet samples from over the years. Although it was a huge task we soon realised that we couldn’t do anything with any of the samples because they were all different shapes and sizes.

The team started a stitch inventory and we decided to have one of each sample made in the same dimensions, initially this was for aesthetic purposes so we could use them on social media and the website. However as they started to build up in the ‘thinking room’ I had the idea of joining a selection to make a patchwork blanket.

    Yarn Details

When it comes to picking colours for my projects Iโ€™m often drawn to pastels, I have deviated over the years and experimented with a range of colours but Iโ€™m always pulled back towards pastels which has now become a signature colour pallet for Bella Coco! The team and I were looking back at how Bella Coco started to where it is now, going through the mound of pastel yarn, projects and swatches from over the years we reminisced and wanted to have the archive of stitches and samples in what I refer to as true Bella Coco colours. I love that this blanket is completely customisable so get creative with your colour pallets!

    I’ll leave alternative yarn below.

    Bella Coco Stitch Tutorial Samples

I have used Paintbox Cotton DK (8-ply/light worsted) in colours Blush Pink, Sea Foam, Pistachio Green, Vanilla Cream & Stormy Grey.

    Alternative Yarn Suggestions

If you’d like to use an alternative yarn in the same/similar colours I suggest using Paint Box Simply DK the are very similar however they are a slightly different shade.

Another alternative is Style Craft Special DK in similar colours.

      1. Hi Fern when you received your confirmation invoice you should click where it says โ€˜access my purchaseโ€™ at the bottom of the invoice to download it to whichever platform/device you wish ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi, I have lots of stylecraft special DK yarn but not enough of the same colour. Do you think it would look ok with more colours? I was thinking if they all went well together then it would work and placement could be worked out after they were all completed.

      1. Hi Lynda you can customise your blanket with whichever colours you wish, let me know what you decide to do and send me a photo ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Hi Jillian when you received your confirmation invoice you should have clicked where it says โ€˜access my purchaseโ€™ at the bottom of the invoice to download it to whichever platform/device you wish ๐Ÿ™‚

Can you please help/guide me to the right link?

    3. Hi there,
I purchased the early bird patchwork blanket pattern and saved it to kindle. I can’t get the links to the tutorials to work. When I click on them nothing happens.
Please can you tell me where to find the tutorials?
      Thank you

      1. Hi Tina The tutorials take you to the youtube tutorials so I am presuming that this will not work on your Kindle. Please also be aware that the they are only assisted tutorials ๐Ÿ™‚

    5. Hi, I’ve started making the squares for this blanket but having problem with tension in the different stitches… I’ve tried the almond stitch (too small) and the feather stitch (too big)! Do you have any advice, should I do a small sample of each first. I’m not a very experienced crocheter… have made a bit of amigurumi. Thanks

      1. BellaCocoTeam

Hi Jo we all crochet using different tension so it can be difficult to get each square to match the size in the pattern exactly; I would first of all double check that your tension matches the gauge in the pattern (and adjust your hook size if needed) but you will also find that blocking your squares will make a big difference. If youโ€™ve used acrylic yarn you will need to steam block them by stretching them out and pinning them into shape, and then use an iron to carefully blast steam at them

    6. Good day, I havent received my patchwork blaket yet.
please email the pattern that I can start crochet this beautiful blanket
