Learn to crochet the Triangle Stitch with this FREE pattern and video tutorial. The Triangle crochet stitch has been much requested for a number of months and it’s easy to see why.  With its beautiful texture, the Triangle stitch can be used for many projects.

    This pattern gives you the basic principles for the Triangle stitch, designed to help you create your own projects.

    Convert Pattern Terms

    Here you can quickly switch between UK and US crochet terms. This will make following the pattern easier as all terms will be converted to your preferred version.

    Terms and Abbreviations

    Stitch(s): st(s)

    Chain: ch(s): Yarn over, pull through.

    Slip Stitch(s): ss(s): Insert hook, yarn over pull through stitch and loop on hook

    Double crochet: dc(s): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have two loops on the hook.  Yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.

    Half Treble Crochethtr(s): Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook.  Yarn over, pull through all three loops.

    Special Stitches

    Triangle Stitch: (TS): yo, insert hook into first st as directed, yo and pull through (3 loops on the hook), yo, insert hook into next st, yo and pull through (5 loops on the hook), yo, insert hook into next st, yo and pull through (7 loops on the hook), yo and pull through all loops on hook

    Triangle Stitch Pattern

    You are viewing this pattern in UK terms.

    Chain in multiples of 2 + 1.

    Row 1: dc in second ch (skipped ch does not count as st), dc in next ch and each ch across. Turn.

    Row 2: 3 ch (counts as htr and 1 ch), starting in first dc at base of 3-ch, *TS, 2 ch, beginning in last worked st of previous TS st, rep from * until 1 st rem, htr in last st. Turn.

    Row 3: 1 ch (does not count as st), dc in first st and ch sp, *skip TS, work 2 dc in ch sp, rep from * until 1 ch sp rem, dc in ch sp, dc in second ch of 3-ch. Turn.

    Rep Rows 2 and 3 until desired height.

    Fasten off and sew in ends.

      I have been busy making stroller blankets and find they are the perfect size to try out the different stitches from your archives. I’m fairly new to crochet but find your tutorials easy to follow

    2. Have a question for you: is there such a stitch as mini triangles stitch? If so, cud u demonsrate (video) or give written instructions on this stitch. I love yr videos – they r easy to understand – u give great instructions – not too fast & not too slow. Much appreciate yr help. Thank you again for yr help.
