Time are strange right now, aren’t they? I try not to dwell too much on the current situation on this blog or my social media, I think crochet should be a comfort. And, by extension, this blog should be too. But, that doesn’t mean it isn’t on my mind. Katie says, “I originally designed this pattern as a commission for one of my friends. The pattern is very relaxing as it is a repeating row. This project is great for anyone who has mastered the basic stitches of crochet and is looking for a larger scale project, or anyone that just wants a relaxing project which will really make a statement in your home, or a great gift.“
Materials & Tools
Hook: 5.5 mm or 6 mm
Yarn: Paintbox Simply Aran in (A) Rose Red, (B) Blood Orange, (C) Buttercup Yellow, (D) Grass Green, (E) Kingfisher Blue, (F) Pansy Purple
3 x 100g balls of each colour will create a crochet blanket 4 ½ ft x 6 ft
Measurements & Gauge
Gauge: 10cm x 10cm = 16 stitches and 16 rows
The finished size of this blanket (4 ½ ft x 6 ft) using the recommended materials and gauge means it would be perfect as a sofa throw, or for a single, or even double, bed.
Notes
A little note on colour changes, when I got to the end of a row and wanted to change colour, I simply hooked the new colour through to create the loop on my hook, pulled the previous colour tight, cut the previous colour (leaving a tail) and then tied the yarn ends together before sewing both ends in securely.
This blanket uses moss stitch

Terms & Abbreviations
Chain (ch): Yarn over, pull through one loop on hook.
Double Crochet(s): dc (s): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.

In colour A, ch210
Row 1: dc in second chain from hook, *ch1, skip a chain, dc in next stitch* repeat to end of chain
Row 2: ch1, turn, dc in chain space from previous row, *ch1, skip a chain, dc in next stitch* repeat to end of row.
At end of each row, you should have two dcs next to each other, ensure your final dc goes between these two dcs, this will ensure you keep the right number of stitches and your edges are straight.
