Crochet Daisy

If you’re looking for something fun and fresh to hook up, why not try a pretty petalled crochet daisy? This quick and simple tutorial is suitable for all skill levels and is perfect for adding embellishment to other crochet projects, or cotton tees or creating a sweet string of bunting.

Using just three different types of stitch, this is simplicity at its finest. If you can chain, slip stitch and treble then you can adorn yourself with daisies.

    Materials and Tools

    Yarn: Stylecraft Naturals Organic Cotton. If you can’t find this yarn, a good substitute is Paintbox Cotton DK in Buttercup Yellow (423) and Paper White (401).

    Hook: 5mm

    Scissors

    Pattern Notes

    This pattern uses UK crochet terms but switchable to US terms below.

    Using green yarn, chain to a length you desire and connect daisies to form a daisy chain.

    Convert Pattern Terms

    Here you can quickly switch between UK and US crochet terms. This will make following the pattern easier as all terms will be converted to your preferred version.

    Terms & Abbreviations

    Chain (Ch): Yarn over, pull through one loop on hook.

    Slip Stitch (sl st): Insert hook, yarn over, pull through both stitch and loop on hook.

    Treble crochet (tr): Yarn over and insert your hook into the chain or stitch, yarn over and pull through (you will have three loops on the hook) yarn over and pull through two loops (you will have two loops on your hook) yarn over and pull the yarn through both of the remaining loops on the hook.

    Using colour A, make a magic ring

    Round 1: Ch 3 (sounds as st) 13 tr. Join with ss in top of ch-3 and close magic ring. Tie off using invisible join. 14sts

    Join colour B in any st.

    Round 2: *Ch 11, ss into base of ch-11, ss in next st; repeat from * 13 more times.

    Fasten off. Sew in ends.
